Home performance practice
Home Performance is a specialist one to one somatic movement education and dance practice for people with Parkinson’s and other long-term health conditions.
Home Performance is a specialist one to one somatic movement education and dance practice for people with Parkinson’s and other long-term health conditions. The practice supports and promotes physical, cognitive, emotional, and social health and wellbeing.
Home Performance was created and developed through my doctoral research (PhD University of Roehampton, 2020) in partnership with people with Parkinson’s in their homes.
Home Performance is suitable for people who would like to explore seated, standing, or floor-based dance and movement practice. You can work in chairs (with/without arms), wheelchairs, or larger electric recliner chairs. Walking frames can also be included in our movement repertoire. Often, we move in connection to sensory objects such as balls, beanbags, silk scarves, long sticks, balloons, or objects from your home. We use a range of music, and you can help select the tracks we use in the session.
Family members or friends can take some time out to do other things, rest, or even join in now and again!
