Training & Mentoring
Training and mentoring in dance and movement for the Parkinson’s community (Groups and one to one practice).
Training includes:
- The bio-psycho-social impact of Parkinson’s.
- An insight into Parkinson’s medication and other medical interventions.
- Parkinson’s and Dementia.
- Working with carers
- Working with volunteers
- Joining the Dance and Parkinson’s national and international networks.
- Connecting with Parkinson’s nurses, doctors, occupational physios, and neurological physiotherapists.
- Collective action. Creating partnerships with charities and other organisations.
- The movement and dance artist as an Artful Carer.
- Building communities of care through movement and dance.
- The role of Somatic Movement Education (SME) in supporting movement, cognition, emotion, and sociality.
- Supporting awareness and movement through breath and touch (focus on proprioception, balance, visuo-spatial tracking, body connectivity, space-effort-flow, movement dynamics).
- Creativity and self-expression.
- Co-creation in the dance space.
- Movement and dance for groups (seated, standing, and floorwork).
- Movement and dance for one to one practice (seated, standing, and floorwork).
- Focus on imagery and gesture.
- Focus on music.
- Supporting the activities of daily living (moving in and within environments of sensation & haptic connection with objects).
- Health and safety.
